As an ex professional footballer, I’ve been exposed to a variety of elite level styles of training which all share the same core principle; training with purpose and with the goal to perform. These principles reflect in my general life too, when I lose purpose I begin to feel lost - maybe you do too. The same goes for health and fitness. You may not be training with the aim to perform to the best of your ability for 90 minutes like I was. But trust me, you will have a purpose, even if you’re currently unaware of it.
95% of the time no. In my opinion this is not a sustainable practice so I don’t encourage it. We take what you’re already doing and make small adjustments that will allow you to create successful long lasting habits. The only exception may be if theres a specific timeframe involved e.g. I go on holiday in 8 weeks and I need to lose X amount of weight.
I don’t like to comment on what other coaches may be doing, but my approach is all about you. We look at what is currently stopping you from achieving your goals, and create sustainable solutions and work towards fixing them together.
